Book Club Guide: Dreamer’s Daughter

Welcome! I’m excited about meeting with book clubs – Dreamer’s Daughter was written with readers and conversation in mind.

My hope is to inspire thoughtful discussions, particularly around less-than-perfect parents and how we cope, and also how our younger selves transformed into the people we are today.

About the Book

Dreamer’s Daughter explores what it means to grow up shaped by complicated family dynamics, limited resources, and big hopes for a better future. At its heart, it’s a story about resilience, understanding the people who raise us, and finding compassion for both the past and ourselves.

Why Dreamer’s Daughter Works Well for Book Clubs

Book clubs have told me this memoir resonates because it opens up conversations about:

  • Complex parent–child relationships

  • Single parenthood and family responsibility

  • Poverty, risk-taking, and self-doubt

  • The long shadow of childhood experiences

  • Empathy, forgiveness, and personal growth

Readers often find themselves sharing their own stories, which leads to rich, meaningful discussion.

Author Visits (Virtual)

I love joining book club discussions and am happy to participate virtually by Zoom, bearing in mind that as I live in France, I am often on the Central European Time zone.

A Zoom visit with your book group would be informal and conversational, typically lasting 30–45 minutes, with plenty of time for questions. I’m happy to tailor the discussion to your group’s interests.
